I Know…

February 17, 2009 · 2 Comments

I know… I haven’t been keeping up on my blog, but if it makes you feel any better, I haven’t been keeping up on much of anything.

Last week we got word that we are going to have to take a mandatory pay cut, this is on top of the fact that we already experienced a reduction in our paycheck the first of the year with increases in insurances and other deductions.  We also usually get a bonus which is ten percent of our income which we kinda suspected we weren’t getting.  The company also announced that it will be cutting 220 jobs.  We are thankful that so far we still have a job, but the reality is that we can no longer afford our rent and keep up with our other bills.  I have spent all week redoing the budget and trying to figure out exactly how much we have to cut.    The whole situation is frustrating when you factor in that eight months ago we picked up and moved across country (a major adjustment!) to keep this job!

I did have a few accomplishments this weekend. On Saturday I had a friend come over to sew and hang out.  I showed her how to make homemade laundry detergent, we threw a roast in the crockpot and then we got busy sewing.  She made an adorable apron!  The pictures below are of her apron:

While my friend was busy sewing her apron, I finished up a couple of pairs of red pajama pants, made some produce bags, and made a cute little checkbook cover.

We also had a wonderful pot roast for dinner with some homemade french bread and then dessert was chocolate souffle with fresh whipped cream–YUM!  My friend brought all the ingredients for dinner which was a special treat!

This week I am hoping to have a little more time to craft as soon as I catch up on my housework.

Here’s to a productive week!

A 2-fer Apron

July 30, 2008 · 4 Comments

Well, my big accomplishment so far this week is to finally finish the reversible apron I have been working on.  I think it turned out pretty well.  I had a little trouble putting it together in a couple of places, and would definately do it differently next time.

I found the floral fabric on a clearance rack and fell in love with it.  It took me a couple of weeks to find the other fabric to go with it, and I really like the way they turned out together.
