We are back after spending the week on Cape Cod. We spent a lot of time visiting historical sites and museums. We went to Plimouth Plantation and learned all about the relationship between the Wampanoug Tribe of natives and the colonial settlers. It was very fascinating and we have decided that we probably would not have made very good colonists!

We also visited the Mayflower II-a replica of the original Mayflower. Did you know that they used to sleep propped up in a sitting position? The bunks were stacked 3-4 high and were only 3-4 feet long.

One of the most “suprising” sites we visited was Plymouth Rock. Now I don’t know what you think of, when you think of Plymouth Rock, but I always sorta assumed it was something like this:

Castle Rock St. Ignace, MI (NOT Plymouth Rock)
Well, the reality was just a little different. I blame my parents for taking me to castle rock as a kid and filling my head with unrealistic expectations….and I imagine my kids feel the same way.

The Actual Plymouth Rock
My understanding is this is not the complete rock, some was left behind when it was moved and has been worn away or chipped off, but it is still a very small rock for such a large reputation. My poor kids were like “really…..really……that’s all it is?!?!?!?”
We also visited the Sandwich Glass Museum and learned the history of glass factories in the area. I am fascinated by glass blowing and making of all kinds. I wish I had been able to take some pictures, but I forgot my camera.
As for projects, I have ideas for some tutorials, but I haven’t had much free time to work on them. Hopefully next week when we start school back up, I will have a little more free time. Until then…….Have a wonderful day!

The sun is still shining and it is still steamy hot here in Florida, but we are having a great time. In the last few days we have visited Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Disney Quest and Gatorland; we have shopped and snacked and swam ….and we are exhausted!
Here are some more pictures of our trip:

….and heat! It has been blazing hot and humid!
We are in Florida and having a great time on our vacation. So far we have been to Sea World, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and part of Epcot. It is so fun to watch the kids see and experience the magic that is Disney. I was worried that being older they might not let themselves really enjoy and embrace the whole experience, but they have been really good. Of course their favorite rides are anything doing with water or roller coasters!
Here are some pictures of our trip so far!
Well, I goto go, Mickey is waiting, I will try to post more later this week.

We leave for Disney in 18 hours and things have been crazy around here. I have been trying to finish up and get my swaps mailed out, clean house, do laundry, pack and all the million last minute little things that need to be done before a long vacation.
I received my apron from my swap partner for the fall apron swap. I think the part I love the most about this apron is its ability to cover all my curves while cooking, and it is adjustable–such a clever little apron.

I also received a couple of fun orange potholders and a whole magazine of fall recipes. As for swaps that I mailed out I had the back 2 school swap which was a bunch of fun pens, pencils, notebooks and a colored pencil roll. I also mailed out 2 sets of pincushions. My favorite is the little finger pincushion for when you are hand sewing.
My dear husband also bought me a
Sony Reader as an early birthday present. I have had fun choosing and downloading books and am so looking forward to only having one book to carry with me, yet having a whole library along. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to read and devour books whenever I can. A nice bonus is that I get 100 free classics to download-I am thinking I need to re-read the complete works of Jane Austen and a few other of my favorites.
Tomorrow will be full of last minute packing, readying the dog and hermit crabs to go to the pet sitters house (Dan’s neice), putting together the rest of the food and waiting for my dear husband to finish working for the day so we can get on the road.
We won’t arrive in Florida until late Saturday afternoon, but I will try to update and share lots of pictures of our trip as I get the chance.
